I am delighted that my shibari has been included once again in Sang Bleu, along with an interview by Maxime Büchi who has become one of my students at my Japanese bondage evening classes. You’ll see some of the work I did for a fashion shoot with Adrian Wilson at 1:10 and 1:18 on the video below, plus at 1.32 , if I’m not mistaken, Syban who has modelled for me many times. If ink is you thing, they have body art aplenty and quite a few names that even I recognise like Lukas Zspira and Ron Athey.
About Sang Bleu VI
After nearly 2 years since its preceding issue, the publication at the centre of art project Sang Bleu returns with its eagerly anticipated issue 6 – proudly presenting the latest volume in the lineage of “blue blood” as a magazine. Channelling the success and acclaim of issues to date, issue 6 marks our return with more prestige, focus and edge within the realm of independent publishing. Alongside the continued passion in exploring and presenting tattooing within bespoke publishing, the scope of issue 6 reaches farther than before, as well as reprising the role in sharing the best names in fashion, fetish, anthropology and cultural studies.
In this issue of Sang Bleu, more than ever before, we’re asserting our tendency to avoid making distinctions between various types of art. Instead, a more integrated idea of art, or even culture is favoured. As a consequence, the value of what we call art can be formulated only on a very general level, whereas in practice very different types of art function in very different ways for very different groups of users. Hence, this issue has two aims: first, to provide art world practitioners with a proposition regarding what the arts can do with other sciences – both within local communities as well as in society at large, in order to support the strengthening of the societal power of the different forms of art. Secondly, to supply scientists and craftspeople with data regarding the organisational consequences of proposals for making the arts function in society.
Continuing with the desire to cater for the enlightened and concerned individual, Issue 6 will ONLY be available via a pre-order system. As the printed magazine now exists as a relatively precarious medium, it is up to those who know they can uphold a firm mark within physical publishing, to continue to do so and in the process, leaving imitators and emulators behind. The issue features editorial content over 700 pages; standing as the largest and most expansive instalment to date. It will be 205 x 280mm (8.07 x 11.02 inches)
