We have just launched ‘Shibari: The easy way’ with a 20% introductory discount to get yourself kitted out at ESINEM-Rope
In my first shibari tutorials, ‘Japanese Rope Bondage: Tying people, not parcels’, my focus was on teaching ties and how to perform them with connection. In this course, we develop this approach further by both simplifying learning by explaining the basic building blocks and by teaching you how to use them to best effect. It is very different to any ‘paint by numbers’ approach that you might have encountered; this course distils years of practice, experience of teaching countless students and knowledge acquired from some of Japan’s most skilled nawashi. It brings you the information that really matters, without having to do years of study or find out through bitter experience.
Nina and I introduce powerful, yet very simple, techniques and ‘ingredients’ which will enable you to tie creatively, safely and, most importantly, with passion. This is far more valuable than merely showing the steps of a selection of set ties since as they say “It is better to teach a man to fish…”. So, you will be shown how to use basic ‘ingredients’ in practical examples and, through understanding them and their rules, it will become easy to build your own ties and avoid errors. If you thought shibari was complicated, you’ll be amazed how it is mostly variations on one simple ‘ingredient’!
The magic is not in the ties, however. Like any ‘recipe’, it is how those ingredients are used and presented. In shibari, ties might be very pretty but, for your partner, it is all about how you apply the rope and what this says to them. As many Japanese sensei have said: The rope is a tool of communication, an extension of your hands and, I like to add, your will. Sadly, these are skills rarely learned until quite an advanced stage. However, we believe that they are the essence and magic of shibari so should be introduced as a starting point. For this reason, we will be helping your master these vital foundations so your tying will have an emotional and physical effect from day one. Why wait years to achieve that?
‘Shibari: The easy way’ will give you a very solid foundation and understanding of Japanese rope bondage that will allow your skills to flourish quickly. You will be surprised, and your partner gratified, by how much difference this course will make to your tying and understanding of the art. Don’t worry if you area a complete beginner as we have included tutorials on all aspects including negotiating consent, safety, choosing rope and lots more.
In addition to the new content, ‘Shibari: The easy way’ is bundled with these tutorials:
– The full 4-part ‘Tying techniques’ series
