Ten colours available
We now offer a choice of ten colours. The header image are the ones available now. So far, I only have 10m lenghts but at the price of 8m. If you tie with 10m, all well and good. For those who prefer more manageable lengths of less than 10m, it means you can trim them and have some handy ‘get out of the shit’ bits for when a rope is just a little too short. For a rope that is already washed, so only needs oiling and burning off, it is very inexpensive.
What’s the specification?
The rope is nominally 6mm, which means it is over typically oversize, but in this case it is right on spec. In fact, you might be surprised if you measured any rope you are using; I’d bet it would be thicker than you think.
After burning off and once stretched, it settles down to 5.8mm immediately. I suspect after a few suspensions or a bit more use, it could end up near 5.5mm, which, to me, is the perfect diameter.
Like the best Japanese rope, it is single yarn. However, it exceeds the usual yarn count of such rope, at 17 per strand, which makes it very smooth and nice. It weighs around 15.8g per metre, so it’s light and fast to tie with.
As the yarn is pre-dyed, there is no issue with dye not penetrating, so no telltale original colour showing through. As you can see, the colours are very vibrant. Once oiled, the colour deepens and the rope develops a beautiful sheen.

I am in the process of ordering more red rope from another supplier. This will be in double yarn construction since many people prefer this as it is so forgiving of abuse. This makes it perfect for beginners or those who want a really long lasting rope with minimal maintenance.
Latest update: 12 Sept
This first batch is proving very popular with several colours running out completely. I seem to have more fuschia that I thought so to balance my stock, I’m discounting the remainder.
The good news is that I have just placed an order for 700 pieces, including the variegated rainbow rope. I hope to have delivery in a couple of weeks.
