Due to my teaching trip Down Under, possibly catching RopeFest in Russia and the Secret Garden Party here, it won’t be possible for me to host The Knot in July, so you had better get your fill on Sunday 3 June. Of course, there is BOUND on Friday 1st June, so you can get a double rope fix. You will need it as you are going to have to hold out till 5 August for the next meeting of The Knot.
The Knot is a great opportunity for those who prefer a less hectic environment to bigger events like BOUND or peer rope workshops. I always have a lot more time to give you more personal attention and answer questions, unlike most public events where I am running around like the proverbial blue-arsed fly with barely a moment to dally.
It has been very rewarding to work closely with attendees to develop their talents. For example, Mo, who has been tying for a relatively short time, honed his skills to a stage where he put on a very professional show at BOUND. I am very excited by the potential of another student who showed he innately understood the art of communicating with rope, in spite of having no technical skills; when he gains the latter, he will be a force to be reckoned with. Even if you are sure you know what you are doing, it is often worth getting a second opinion as I frequently find basic errors in the rope work of very experienced students!
