What’s so special about our new rope?
You might well ask “What’s so special about our new rope?”. Good question. After nearly two years of testing and development, we believe its unique construction combines the best features of single and double yarn rope without any of the disadvantages. We have never seen rope of this quality before; it sets a new standard.
Each of the three strands has 7 sub-plies/strands, each of 5 yarns twisted together. The reason for this construction is to create a super flexible, smooth, loose-laid rope that is also durable and forgiving of rough handling. With this rope, you’ll get the best of both worlds, long life with optimum feel and handling.
It’s sweet-smelling due to eco-friendly production methods (JBO-free) and wet treating is entirely pointless as it is perfect right off the reel.
This rope measures 5.9mm off the reel, so you might take it to be thinner. Bear in mind that most rope is about 5-10% over the nominal size to allow for stretch and so as not to be under specification. After use, it is likely to settle down at around 5.5mm, which I regard as the ideal diameter. The weight is 15.5g per meter, making it fast and ‘flickable’ when tying.
