Over the last couple of years, the Japanese bondage scene has changed beyond recognition. A few years ago, there were a handful of people who were tying to any standard that would pass muster in Japan but now they are coming out of the woodwork. To a very large extent, this has been down to opening up more communications with Japan and some excellent teaching as a result. When I started, the best most of us could do was to pick up what we could from the embryonic Internet or books. Authentic information was hard to find and what there was often was of dubious provenance.
Due to the proliferation of emerging talent, I have a hard job keeping an eye on it all, even though I do have a fair bit of exposure via events and various contacts. So I am calling on you for suggestions for the bill at The London Festival of the Art of Japanese Rope Bondage. You are welcome to nominate yourself, of course. If the organisers don’t know your work already, we will need convincing that you can perform so some evidence is essential. The best proof is video that isn’t heavily edited.
We are also looking for presenters and teachers. Again, some credentials will be required, if the name does not speak for itself. The subject can be anything you choose, providing it is Japanese bondage related: tying, making rope, history, Q&A etc.
This is your Festival as much as ours, so let’s have your input!
