Over the past year, we have been busy creating the most comprehensive shibari suspension course ever produced. We are now are up to Part XI with lots more to come. If you haven’t already tried our tutorials, we think you’l be surprised as they are far more detailed than anything you have seen before. These aren’t just the short ‘paint by numbers’ videos you see elsewhere and there’s way more to them thanks to using a multi-media platform. For example, Part XI, which covers two suspensions incorporating bamboo, shown in the accompanying images, runs to around 100 minutes. Since we use two professional quality cameras, one of which captures the important details in close-up, you won’t miss a thing. In addition to the videos, we can also include text notes, add links, third party material, quizzes, still photos and a Q&A forum.
We now have around 40 tutorials from complete beginner level to very advanced, typically ranging from at least 30 minutes to 90 or so, rather than the 5-10 minute offerings that you see elsewhere. I was quite surprised to discover that some other on-line schools have less total content on their entire site than we have in 3 or 4 tutorials!
We are not planning on resting on our laurels though. ShibariClasses was the first comprehensive on-line shibari school and we intend to make it remain the best. We owe our students a massive thank you for the way they have embraced our methods and made us the success that we are. Your feedbackis important trp us since that’s what drives our efforts: giving you what you want.
What our students really seem to appreciate is the way we explain not only how ties are constructed but also why it is done that way; the ‘why of the tie’, if you like. This understanding means you can easily and, most vitally, safely adapt ties by using functionally similar components or, as we term them, ‘ingredients. This allows flexibility to make the tie suit the person you are tying and not vice versa. Of course, having options is also the solution to not having exactly the right amount of rope to finish off a tie without adding a whole new one. You’ll find a few tips to deal with those situations which come up in spite of your best efforts.
Anyway, here are a few comments from students:
- “I completed the course and loved how well the reasoning behind each movement was explained, rope efficiency and how the energy is transmitted through the rope. Its IMPRESSIVE!!! I can’t wait to complete the next 2 courses for the same subject and soon ALL the courses” – Myself
- You are truly amazing and creative not to mention a very skilled teacher. Thank you for inspiring us to become better riggers.” – Knot-Maker
- “You are the main source of any progress that I have made in rope at all, and I appreciate all that you do to share your knowledge…I think I’m going to spend a lot of time watching and understanding the self analysis and critique one of the best elements of this study so far.” – Joe
