The Bound team is very happy to announce Stefano Laforgia’s London Shibari workshop.
As Stefano is coming to perform at Bound on 4th of April, we have asked him to present a workshop in London since it would be a miss not have him share some of his extensive knowledge.
After much discussion, it was decided Stefano to cover an area that many people are missing out on. With so many workshops based on TK’s and suspension techniques, we feel that floor work has been rather over-looked lately. Floor work, also known as ‘newaza’, is epitomised by Yukimura Haruki’s carressing way of tying but has massive potential for other styles. So, we have put together a fantastic class that will begin with the absolute basics but then expand to cover more advanced techniques. For good measure, Stefano will also cover the module “tension and connection with rope” which is the cherry on top. If you are serious about rope, or simply just want to open up a new dimension of pleasure, this is a class you do not want to miss!! Of course, what you will learn doesn’t just apply to floor work, it will improve your overall ability to communicate with rope.
The workshop will be a 5 hours hands-on class held in south east London.
The venue will be confirmed as the date gets closer as well as it will depend on the number of participants.
When: Sunday 6th April 2:30 pm – 7:30pm
Admission Booking & Fees: The cost of the class is £95.00 per couple. We are working to set up an easy payment option. For now, you can sign up to the workshop by contacting us via the contact form HERE. We will then send you a PayPal invoice. Don’t forget to include your PayPal email address.
Skill level: All/Intermediate.
What to bring: 6 x 7-8m (21-24ft) 5-7mm natural fiber ropes, a towel (optional, but not provided)
Dress code: Any/casual/ comfortable for rope.
WORKSHOP TOPICS:
-Basic floor work
Many people underestimate the fun you can have when playing on the floor with the body of another person and some rope. In this workshop, we’ll start exploring the basics of tying someone up completely in elegant, fast and secure ways.
-Tension and connection
Tying, among other things, is a way to communicate your feelings and emotions, thus the rope has to be able to transfer those feelings from one person to the other. This is possible only if the rope is in tension. We’ll learn tricks and do drills in order to acquire a new sensibility to keeping the tension alive.
-Advanced floor work
Following what we learned in the basic floor work workshop, we’ll now focus on more advanced tecniques and ties, introducing also s/m play and psychological and emotional aspects of playing on floor work.
Last, but not least, who is Stefano Laforgia?
Stefano Laforgia is an Italian Rigger and BDSM educator. He started his journey in BDSM at early age, but lived it mainly in private until he moved in Rome in 2000, where he became an active member of the BDSM local community.
In 2005, he quit his office job and decided to live his lifestyle publicly when he founded Alcova, the first fetish/BDSM shop in Rome. Since then, he has worked on various projects, both in Italy and around the world. He was the first to organize bondage classes in Rome helping the whole community grow and take shape, organized play parties and took part in BDSM themed workshops and conferences.
His approach to shibari has shifted with time especially since 2008, when he started visiting Japan. There, he met some of the best Japanese kinbakushi during their shows, making acquaintances with some of them. This lead to him inviting Kinoko Hajime to perform in Europe for the first time, so that others could see a different approach to shibari.
Stefano was so fascinated by Japanese bondage that he started to share his views about it with other Italian and international riggers during various events in the following years, contributing to the genesis of a new trend that emphasizes the connection and interaction between the rigger and the bottom, rather than just the “circus” performance or the static pictures of the posed models. This process clearly shows in the type of ties he uses and through his pictures. The rigger become more and more an active part of the image, a whole with the model, as it’s the best way for Stefano to show the connection, the erotic tension and the power exchange between him and the bottom.
In 2011, he founded the first School of Japanese Bondage in Italy, entitled to “Itoh Seiyu” and organized “LegARTI”, the first event in Italy, entirely dedicated to Japanese bondage. After all this time, he is still having a great time teaching, performing, sharing knowledge and, most of all, tying and having fun with his play partners.
