Bruce Esinem and Nina Russ will be presenting their shibari workshop in Dublin, ‘Tying Techniques’, on 5th August, based on the best-selling on-line ShibariClasses course of the same name.
The aim is to develop your skills far beyond the ‘paint by numbers’ method of tying and to ensure you work efficiently, creatively and safely but, most importantly, with devastating effect. This will be achieved though our unique ‘ingredients-based’ approach which creates an understanding of the ‘recipes’ by using example ties tailored to students’ skill levels. You will also learn pro tips and secrets that we have picked up from 1,000 of hours of practice and by spending time with some of Japan’s top nawashi. This makes the course invaluable to all levels and vital to those who want to advance.
Bruce was one of the west’s early-adopters of Shibari, a pioneer of connective tying, so brings nearly two decades of experience having performed and taught all over the world. He began visiting Japan 10 years ago for tuition and has since brought teachers to Europe for workshops and events such as The London Festival of the Art of Japanese Rope Bondage.
Nina began as a rope model but has since been mentored by Esinem and studied assiduously to become a highly proficient teacher and performer. Both have been exposed to the teachings of many of Japan’s best known nawashi including Kinoko Hajime, Osada Steve, Kazami Ranki, Arisue Go and, the late grand master of newaza (floor-work), Yukimura Haruki. As you can imagine, all this expert input and years of practical experience, combined with Nina’s perspective from inside the ropes, means that have a wealth of knowledge to impart.
