Combining the benefits of single yarn with those of double yarn
Our shibari rope just gets better. Due to the success of the new construction of our Clara Premium jute rope, this method is being extended to other products.
Clara Premium uses ultra fine yarn but formed into sub-plies, i.e. twisted into bundles, to make up each of the 3 strands. The advantage is that it ensures more even tension between the yarns. This means that it stays in balance, thus requiring less maintenance and giving longer life. It also eliminates the faults that can occur when making single yarn ropes, especially those with super fine yarns which can snag during production. In other words it is combining the benefits of single yarn with those of double yarn: A soft, light, loose laid, fast-handling rope without the short life-span and intensive maintenance.
We have had two new products delivered:
NewAma linen hemp
The NewAma comes in 5mm and 6mm. The 5mm comprises 3 strands, each with 4 sub-plies of 5 yarns and the 6mm comprises 3 strands, each with 6 sub-plies of 6 yarns. It also has a more gentle twist. The end result is a softer and more flexible rope. The original Amanawa is quite a hard rope due to the tight lay and density, this rope much more gentle on the body. No need for wet treatment.
NewAsa jute
The NewAsa 6mm comprises 3 strands, each with 6 sub-plies of 4 yarns. It feels and looks very similar to Osaka, although it is more the golden colour of recent Tossa batches. Finally! The feel of a loose laid single yarn rope without the short-life and high maintenance. No need for wet treatment.
The 5mm version is not yet formally available, although we might list a couple of sample sets shortly.
