As you might have seen I recently added shinai, those bamboo practice swords that appear in a lot of Japanese rope movies and photos being used variously to poke and insert. If you haven’t check out my eBay listing or the shoot with MaYa.
A lot have people have asked me about an implement about 16″ (40cm), in the header photo, made up of a bundle of thin rattan sticks that I have used in various shows like this one with Ika at last year’s LFAJRB. It is very versatile, it can be used for impact play, scratching or the end can be pressed into nipples or skin and twisted. The perfect tool for any seme nawa session. The ladies seem to enjoy a fast light drumming in certain areas judging by the reaction it generally evokes. Anyway, having no idea as to their intended use, name or where to get them apart from a small shop in Asakusa, Tokyo, I decided I should faithfully reproduce them. I call them ‘seme mahounotsue’ (‘SM magic wands’ if my attempted translation has not gone awry). You can buy them here for £18.95
Another option that discovered in my search is a brush designed for cleaning ‘hangiri’ (wooden bowls), which is shorter at around 10″ (25cm) and fatter and made from slivers of bamboo, shown below. Obviously, to the deviant mind. it can be put to similar uses to the ‘seme mahounotsue’. I haven’t had a chance to field test it rigorously (or should that be ‘rigger-ously’?) yet but initial tests show it is more thuddy and a lot more scratchy. Here they are in my eBay shop.
