Until recently, the cast of the much-touted forthcoming Cirque Shibari tour was something of a mystery to most; although not to us, inevitably, since they snapped up Gestalta and Gorgone, co-organiser of BOUND, both of whom are friends and regular collaborators 🙂 Although Cirque has an Indiegogo page, the stars seemed to be one of the key bits of missing but this has now been rectified. As you will see, it’s quite a line up!
I think this production could have a very positive effect on the public’s perception of ‘what we do’. The promo video portrays the art in a beautifully positive way and I really hope the media picks up on this angle, rather than missing the point entirely to focus on something salacious. Anyway, it will be very interesting to see how shibari transfers to the big stage with proper production, rather than our usual more DIY underground events. I have to say we are delighted that the torch of BOUND’s mission to bring shibari to the masses has been picked up and that Cirque Shibari was inspired by Peter Karroll’s visit to BOUND in February this year
