Here’s an article from a Gaijin Abroad about a night out with Arisue Go:
A bondage night in Tokyo, I just found out what was the Kinbaku, along with Arisue Go, one of the best masters in this field. A special evening in the SM universe in Japan.
Today, I went to Bondage – Kinbaku event in Tokyo with my friend Tomomi. At the program the master Arisue Go tiding up some beautiful girls.
But before going further, I should say that there is nothing sexual in this article. It is simply the presentation of a Japanese art. I introduce you this because I had the opportunity to an event connected to this area.
Kinbaku: what is it?
The Kinbaku (緊縛) is what we call the Japanese bondage. This is an art where a person ties up another person in a symmetrical and aesthetic way. I call it an art because many people see it like this.
The art of Japanese bondage is often used as part of sex between consenting adults (this is an extremely important element, consent between adults). Many people equate this art to sadomasochism. The reason for this is because it takes a dominant, the appender, and a dominated, the attached, which in general agrees “to suffer”.
In the West, the Kinbaku is often called Shibari (縛り) with reference to the art of tying packages. Indeed, in Japanese the word shibari means attached or connected.
The bondage is often done by people called Nawashi (rope bondage artist).
Arisue Go: who is he?
Arisue Go is one of the most famous ropes bondage artists in Japan. He is therefore a person, known and recognized for his talent in Japanese bondage art.
He began his career as a Nawashi in the 70’s working for SM magazines which were famous in Japan, and making some movies such as “Akai Nawa Hateru Made”.
Arisue Go has written numerous books on the art of Japanese Bondage and its History. Now he realizes Kinbaku events and lectures very regularly for all people interested by this Japanese art.
Kinbaku Night by Arisue Go: In the SM world of Tokyo
On the Internet, I came across an ad for an event of kind somewhat unusual. It was a Kinbaku night with Arisue Go. Having never been to this type of event, and knowing that it was a recognized art in Japan, I told myself that this was a good opportunity. The event took place this February 7, 2012 in Shibuya and the price was only 1000 Yen (13 USD). I went there with my friend Tomomi.
We arrived at the opening of the bar where the Kinbaku night was to take place. After paying our entrance fees, and ordered a drink, we saw Arisue Go. We were talking with Rachel, his assistant, who seems to be a nice lady, and she briefly explained to us the course of the night. She informed us that if we paid an extra 2000 Yen (26 USD) we could try the art of Japanese bondage being attached by Arisue Go himself.
After insisting a little on my friend Tomomi, shed agreed to try it, and found herself to be the first model of the night to be tied up on a chair. Everything was done in a friendly atmosphere and everyone smiled, even Tomomi, who no longer seemed able to move on her chair. Then she got off. The whole lasted a few minutes and traces of ropes were present on the forearm of my friend.
What surprised me is when I turned my head and overview Yuta the owner of Mickey House. He is my current employer at Mickey House International Cafe in Tokyo. We immediately greeted and then we spent the night together.
Then, the models kept coming, three in all. A Japanese salary-man was tied up on a chair too, but a high chair. He remained there a few minutes to be photographed by the admiring throng of the quality of work proposed.
After him, a Japanese young lady, who seemed to appreciate this art came to get tied up. She got tied on the table, in a position that seemed uncomfortable, but it seemed to please her. She also spent few minutes, well attached, to be photographed. Besides, she played the game with the photographers. She seemed to really enjoy this situation where she lost all control.
Then finally, a musician began a musical show and soon finds himself accompanied by Arisue Go practicing some Kinbaku on a professional model. The atmosphere became interesting. We had a mix of staging, music and Japanese bondage. It was really interesting and intense. Everyone seemed to enjoy.
The bondage event ended on this last demonstration. We left the scene of this Kinbaku night with Arisue Go. I admit that I was surprised by the art of Japanese bondage that I hardly knew before tonight.
