I was pointed to this site which has a few kinbaku tutorials from Japan: Instructional Archives – Ai Nawa. The good news is that it is all in English, unlike most sites offering such goodies which are impenetrable to anyone lacking a knowledge of written Japanese.
I’m not quite sure what to make of Sanada Nobuyuki’s style using what appears to be golden pvc covered washing line. The site says he was “the second editor of Mania Club at Sanwa and has written a number of how to books in addition to publishing a series of how to essays in Mania Club”, so he’s clearly somebody with his finger on the pulse of the world of kinbaku. I can see I shall have to delve further and will no doubt be asking myself “Is it kinbaku?” 🙂
However, Marai Masato’s videos are well worth a look if you favour old style as, of course, is anything by Nureki, Mr Old Style himself. Marai does some smart tying, particularly his gote which works a treat. You can learn a lot from his tutorials.
