Jakara Rope, one of my dealers, claim that an Amazon seller, Tyagi Racing, is falsely advertising rope as being Jakara products. They posted the following statemenmt of Fetlife:
“We are the only producer of Jakara-Rope branded products, and we source and treat all rope ourselves by hand. We do not knowingly supply to any other sellers, whether on Amazon or elsewhere.
It has come to our attention that on the Amazon pages for some of our products, Amazon suggests ‘alternative sellers’ of Jakara-Rope products. We are not aware of any connection between us and these sellers, and accordingly we have no knowledge of the source or quality of the rope they sell.
We take this matter very seriously, and are in the process of involving the appropriate authorities and potentially beginning legal action to stop this happening. It is important to us that when you buy Jakara-Rope products, that is exactly what you get.
If you would like to purchase genuine Jakara-Rope branded rope and products, you should do so via our website – www.jakara-rope.co.uk or by ensuring you select ‘Jakara-Rope’ as the seller in the Amazon buy box.”
Please put the word out so that buyers are aware that they can only be sure of getting Jakara Rope products direct because nobody else currently sells them! At worst, this is deliberate ‘passing off’ and, at best, some hideous technical foul-up in Amazon’s e-commerce systems. Let’s hope it is resolved fast.
Update: Interestingly, I see that products that I don’t sell come up under my Amazon shop if I click on my store name, e.g. Midori’s book. I have raised a support ticket to find out why but it seems that if one adds another supplier’s name as a keyword, the item will appear in their shop! I can only assume this is an “unintended feature” that needs to be addressed 🙂
