I don’t know if this affected last Friday’s rope orders that were dropped off earlier on the day of the robbery at my local sub-post office. It’s a bit vague what happened, or indeed who got shot, but at least nobody died. The post office has been closed ever since with no news of when it might re-open.
Anyway, here’s what South London Press had to say:
Man shot in the leg during attempted post office robbery
By Clare Casey
A MAN was shot in the leg during an attempted robbery.
The man, believed to be in his 50s, was found by armed police when they were called to a robbery at a post office in Camberwell last Friday.
A police spokesman said: “Police were called at 17:22hrs on Friday, September 11, to reports of an attempted robbery at a post office in Wyndham Road.
“Police officers, including specialist armed officers, and London Ambulance Service attended and found a man believed to be in his 50s with gunshot injuries to his leg.”
He was taken to a south London hospital where he remains in a serious but stable condition.
Detectives from the Flying Squad are investigating but no arrests have been made and enquires continue.
Anyone with information should call the Flying Squad on 101 or to remain anonymous call Crimestoppers on 0800 555 111.
