Within the next few days, we are finally expecting the delivery of some amazing new shibari rope. After nearly 2 years of testing and fine tuning, the new rope has landed at Felixstowe and is currently going through customs.
What’s different?
Firstly, the way it is made is very different to the shibari rope which you have seen so far. Each of the three strands has 7 sub-plies/strands, each of 5 yarns twisted together.
The reason for this construction is to create a super flexible, smooth, loose laid rope that is also durable. In the past, there has always been a trade-off, like car tyres. You can get a reasonably priced ones that last for ages but with unspectacular performance or you pay a hefty premium for race tyres with maximum grip and a short life. Loose laid Japanese style rope is the race tyre and rope with tighter, often double yarn ropes, tend to be cheaper, last well and are more affordable. With this rope, you’ll get the best of both worlds, long life and optimum feel and handling.
It’s sweet smelling due to eco-friendly production methods and wet treating is entirely pointless as it is perfect right off the reel.
The header image shows some we have been using of over 18 months. Try not to drool too much 😀
You can be sure it’ll be up on ESINEM-Rope as soon as it is delivered to me.
