We have decided to offer 20% off all shibari tutorials at ShibariClasses in commiseration or celebration of Brexit, depending on your view. We certainly don’t plan to do any less business with our friends in the EU. Don’t forget, we will always be part of Europe and be Europeans; just not part of a federation. So, let’s kick off a spot of international free trade as an optimistic start to a new future.
For 20% off all shibari tutorials, all you need to do is enter this coupon code when you enrol in any courses in the next 30 days: BREXIT-DONE
New approaches for 2020
Whilst we have had glowing student feedback for our tutorials, we have been looking for ways to improve them.
One formula which worked very well before was basing videos on us teaching a real student. The advantage is that you can see them make the same mistakes and be faced with the same difficulties as you, which we can then show you how to overcome. It will help us to help you better. You are bound to learn more than seeing one of us do it proficiently the first time. It’s also comforting to see that some of these skills take a little to master and you are not alone.
We have already made some initial enquiries about a beginner and a more experienced rigger who have been recommended by our current model, Sophie. Hopefully, we will shoot the first in the next few weeks.
Real sessions
We always emphasise the connective side of shibari, the how you do it, rather than the what you do. Whilst we have discussed and taught various techniques regarding ‘the how’, it has tended to be more from a technical classroom perspective than a real-life session. We have tried as much as possible to avoid being too clinical and have included a few videos of performances. However, in general, tutorials tend to lack showing the tie in use. The result can be that students tend to tie somewhat mechanically, what I refer to as ‘painting by numbers’, rather than making an impact on their partner. This is something we plan to address by adding more videos showing how you might integrate certain ties into a real-life session.
